Brush Guide: Pin Brushes

One of the most common questions we get is, ‘Which brush is right for my dog?” To make it easier to choose the right brush for your dog or cat, check out part 1 of this series where we break down each brush line for what it does, and what coats it’s best for. First up, pin brushes.

ORIGINAL SERIES

The Original Series pin brushes are the first line of brushes Chris came out with. They are made with a lightweight beechwood handle, a firm pad, and rounded and grounded stainless steel pins. This type of pin brush is an excellent maintenance brush, and works for most coat types. However, coats that are thick, dense and medium in length are ideal for this brush.

Breed Examples: Bernese Mountain Dog, Great Pyrenees, Leonberger

  • FIRM CUSHION
  • LIGHTWEIGHT BEECHWOOD HANDLE
  • EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE BRUSH
  • OVAL, OBLONG & POCKET
  • 20 mm, 27 mm, and 35 mm PIN LENGTHS AVAILABLE

GOLD SERIES

The Gold Series pin brushes are made with the same lightweight beechwood handle, but stained black. With gorgeous gold plated stainless steel rounded & grounded pins, with a soft pad. This pad, as Chris likes to say, is like leather shoes – the more you use it, the softer it becomes. These brushes are great for delicate coats as a styling/finishing brush.

Breed Examples: Papillon, Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier

  • SOFT CUSHION
  • LIGHTWEIGHT STAINED BEECHWOOD HANDLE
  • FINISHING BRUSH
  • OVAL
  • 20 mm, 27 mm and 35 mm PIN LENGTHS

FUSION SERIES

The Fusion Series is made with a thermo-treated ash handle, with rounded & grounded brass pins that reduce static and help complete a finished look. There are two notable differences in this line – (1) the shape of the handle, and (2) 30% more pins. In the first two series, the handles are flat, these are equipped with a rounder handle, designed to fit perfectly in your hand. The Fusion Series has a medium pad, making it a great choice for almost any coat type.

Breed Examples: Golden Retriever, Bearded Collie, Coton de Tulear

  • MEDIUM CUSHION
  • THERMO-TREATED ASH HANDLE
  • EXCELLENT FINISHING/STYLING BRUSH
  • OVAL, OBLONG & POCKET
  • 20 mm & 27 mm PIN LENGTHS AVAILABLE

BREEZY SERIES

The Breezy Series is our newest line of brushes, designed for those that may need a variety of different pad types for different coat types. These pads are made with innovative technology that allows more movement, and therefore can conform to the body of the dog or cat, getting more hair with each pass, and cutting brushing time. This series is equipped with a lightweight beechwood handle, in a new comfort design, and stainless steel grounded and rounded pins. These brushes come in three different pad flexibilities – Firm (Pink), Medium (Green) and Soft (Purple).

Pro-Tip: Make sure to pick the pad color that is the correct flexibility for your dog or cat, these brushes are not the same with different colors!

Breed Examples: Pink Pad (Firm) – Australian Shepherd, Poodle; Medium Pad (Green) – Cocker Spaniel, English Setter; Purple Pad (Soft) – Papillon, Maltese

  • INNOVATIVE NEW PAD DESIGN
  • DURABLE, LIGHTWEIGHT BEECHWOOD HANDLES
  • GREAT MAINTENANCE & FINISHING BRUSHES
  • OVAL, OBLONG & POCKET
  • THREE PAD FLEXIBILITIES
  • TWO NEW PIN LENGTHS: 16 mm & 22 mm

WOOD PIN SERIES

The Wood Pin Series are the perfect starting brush for puppies, and are excellent maintenance and style drying brushes. These are made with the same ergonomic handle from the Fusion Series with rounded and grounded bamboo pins. Because these pins are made from wood, they can not get hot, making them perfect for style drying. We always recommend these brushes for puppies and dogs that do not like to be brushed (or were brushed with low quality brushes that were painful), to get them used to brushing because it feels like a massage. These brushes do not pull coat, and will not hurt your dog or cat.

Breed Examples: Puppies from age 6 weeks – six months, and dogs and cats of all ages with medium to long coat.

  • DOESN’T PULL HAIR!
  • PERFECT FOR WET COAT AND STYLE DRYING
  • PINS WON’T GET HOT
  • PERFECT DOGS & CATS WHO DON’T LIKE BRUSHING
  • FEELS LIKE A MASSAGE
  • GREAT STARTER BRUSH FOR PUPPIES & KITTENS
  • OVAL, OBLONG & POCKET

T-BRUSH SERIES

The T-Brush Series are best described as an undercoat eliminator. Designed to compare to a traditional undercoat rake, the T-Brush removes loose undercoat from double coated breeds more effectively than a rake. Made with an extra firm pad and a lightweight beechwood handle, ergonomically designed to cut down on fatigue and stress injuries. Because of it’s unique handle, you can brush from any direction and safely and effectively remove only the loose coat. Like most of our other pin brush series, the T-Brushes also have rounded and grounded stainless steel pins.

Breed Examples: Siberian Husky, Australian Shepherd, Collie

  • FIGHT FATIGUE AND STRESS INJURIES
  • DURABLE, LIGHTWEIGHT BEECHWOOD HANDLE
  • ROUNDED & GROUNDED PINS
